Tips for Maintaining Your New Car

If you’ve bought yourself a fancy new car, you will want to take care of it to the best of your capacity. You don’t want your car’s lifespan shortened because you didn’t take ample care to maintain it properly. Car maintenance refers to looking after your car both internally and externally.

Your new purchase might still look fresh after a couple of years, but if you do not service its engine and parts as required, you could have a dying machine on your hands. So, how do you pay enough attention in order to extract optimal performance?

  •         Check Tire Air Pressure – Get yourself an accurate tire pressure gauge and check the inflation pressure of each tire individually every month. You can use the manufacturer’s recommended inflation pressure, which is usually listed in the usage manual to compare. Give all the tires, even the spare ones, an overall check for other signs of wear and tear.
  •         Keep a Tab on the Engine Oil – Check the vehicle’s engine oil on a routine basis. Try not to overfill. In case of any leak, identify a correction at the soonest. Change your car’s engine oil every 5,000 miles if you want to keep it running smoothly.
  •       Regularly Change Your Car’s Air Filter – Changing your vehicle’s air filter can help you reduce its emissions, increase fuel efficiency, and prolong its engine life. Perhaps one of the easiest car maintenance jobs – you can do it all by yourself without any help.
  •        Wash Your Car Every Now and Then – If possible, wash your vehicle every alternative weekend. If you use your car daily, it can accumulate a lot of dust, dirt, and grime. At least wipe off the body, and you can indulge in a thorough car-cleaning exercise every few weeks or as convenient.

The tips shared above are easy to follow and should help you keep your new car in peak health. If you find any of them difficult to adhere to and happen to be in or around New York, visit Chevrolet of Huntington, and we’ll service your vehicle and its parts the way you desire.
