About East Setauket

East Setauket has a total area of 2.5 square miles and was incorporated in 1656 as part of Brookhaven, New York. The town was split off and officially named in 1879. Settled by colonists from Setauket, Long Island, it was named after the location of their original homesite. The population was 12,390 at the 2010 census.
